So get started: Log into an FTP server and drag and drop files in the transfer queue, then press the tool bar button "Transfer" and go!
If you don't want the FTP Address Book to automatically pop up when the program starts, modify [Options|General|Start with].
To import your old FTP sites information, open [Connect|Address Book] and press the [Import] menu button.
You can double click in the Log Window to maximize it, or double click in the Queue Window to enlarge it. Double click again to restore the default layout.
You can use remote directory path in the FTP Url to put in the address bar. Make sure the directory path ends with '/'. For example, ftp://myftpserver.com/remotepath/
You can Use Ctrl-G to set cursor in the address bar.
TurboFTP supports bandwidth throttling. See [Options|Transfer|Speed Limits]. You can also double-click the transfer rate pane on the statusbar to modify speed limits during transfer.
If you prefer to store program settings in an ini file, use [Options|General|Store program settings in turboftp.ini]. If you want to use you own copy of turboftp.ini make sure you copy it to the TurboFTP install folder when TurboFTP is NOT running.
TurboFTP can monitor FTP URLs in clipboard. To download a file linked in a web page, right click the download shortcut and choose "Copy Shortcut" in Internet Explorer or "Copy Link Location" in Netscape.
You can also drag an FTP URL shortcut from a web page and drop it to the TurboFTP window.
If your FTP server is not in your time zone, TurboFTP can convert the remote file time to local time using [Files | Server time offset] in Advanced Site Settings.
TurboFTP monitors current local directory changes and automatically refreshes the local listing when any change occurs.
When the light at the lower right corner is gray, you are offline; when it is green, you are connected an FTP site; when it is red, TurboFTP is transferring data between your PC and the FTP server.
If you minimize TurboFTP to the system tray while it is transferring files, it will alert you with a bubble tip once the transfer is completed.
Most functions can be invoked using the context menu (right click to bring it up) in each area of the main window.
You can use the standard FTP URL (ftp://UserName:password@FTPsite) in the FTP site address field of Quick Connect dialog and the Address Bar.
You can double click a file in the Local Browser Pane to open it or add it to transfer queue. Tell TurboFTP what you prefer in [Options|Advanced] tab.
Folder Synchronizer offers you the most convenient way to synchronize, clone files and directories between a local and a remote folder.
With Task Scheduler you can have TurboFTP run a session or synchronize local and remote folders automatically and regularly.
The Schedule Sync Task Wizard (in menu [Tools]) guides you through the process of creating a Sync Task.
TurboFTP supports wildcard masks in manual download or upload and command line operation.
You can toggle any pane of the main window. The sub menus are under View menu.
To change the focus to another browser pane, use Tab key or just click on that browser pane.
You can use Insert key to put selected item(s) into the transfer queue.
You can press Ctrl-T to start transferring queue.
You can launch a new window of TurboFTP using [Connect|New Window] or Ctrl+N.
You can invoke the Windows Explorer context menu by right clicking on a file in the Local Browser Pane and choose [Explorer Menu...].
When transferring files and TurboFTP is minimized, you can place the mouse cursor on its task bar title to see progress percentage indicated by a tool tip.
You can use F3 to find an item containing the search string in a browser pane.
You can continue to drag and drop files into the transfer queue during transfer.
You can drag and drop files from Windows Explorer into TurboFTP to upload.
In the options dialog you can specify which action (e.g. open or queue) to take when you double click a non folder item in a browser pane.

TurboFTP can report total size and number of files and subfolders in a directory and all its subdirectories. To do so, right click in the Remote Browser Pane and choose [Report total size...].
To see the welcome message again after login, choose View Welcome Message in the context menu of Log Window.
You can drag and drop items between Local Browser Pane and Remote Browser Pane, as well as from these two panes to the Transfer Queue Window.
You can rearrange ftp sites in Address Book by drag and drop.
You can arrange the order of queued items by drag and drop or by using the context menu.
You can specify the text file extensions in [Options|Advanced], and set the transfer type to Auto. Files with these extension will be automatically converted to the format on the destination system.
You can abort the transfer at any time using Abort command.
You can click on one of the headers of a browser pane(in Details View) to arrange icons in certain order.
You can pull down the drop down list of a browser pane to go to a directory you have visited recently.
You can execute custom command on the connected FTP server using [Command|Custom Command].
To make a new directory on current local directory, right click in Local Browser Pane and choose Make New Directory.
Use Ctrl-B to open the Address Book.
To make a new directory on FTP server, right click in Remote Browser Pane and choose Make New Directory.
Use F12 to minimize TurboFTP window to the system tray. You can set it to always minimize to system tray in [Options|Advanced Con't].
You can have one click access to a site you recently visited in the Connect menu.
To make TurboFTP not remember any information of sites you have visited, set [Options|Advanced|Recent Visited Sites] to zero.
You can remove selected files in the Local Browser Pane permanently (instead of moving to the Recycle Bin) by holding down Shift key first then pressing Delete key (the same way as in Windows Explorer).
Specify the editor program you want to use for certain file types in [Options|Editors].
TurboFTP will automatically reconnect and resume transfer if no bytes received during the time specified by the Reconnect Timeout value ([Options|Advanced]).
When you transfer a single file, TurboFTP will highlight the transferred item in the destination list when done. This is useful for example after a music file is downloaded you can simply hit the return key to play the music.
You can have TurboFTP play a sound for various events at [Options|Events].
Double clicking a session file icon will launch TurboFTP, which will execute the session immediately.
Sometimes a remote server pumps out lines of information when you enter a remote directory. Enable [Options|General|Show remote directory message] to have TurboFTP show them in a message window.
If you miss directory message you can use context menu of the Log Window [View directory message] to view it again.
